To celebrate the publication of volume 1 of American Drawings and Watercolors in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which catalogues works from the Museum’s own holdings by artists born before 1835, some 100 highlights from the Metropolitan’s exceptional collection of American drawings and watercolors are on view. Among the selections are works by Thomas Cole, John Singleton Copley, Asher Brown Durand, William Trost Richards, and James Abbott McNeill Whistler.
